The only technology you have is a smart-board, one computer with internet access, and a printer. On the computer you have access to Microsoft Office, Movie Maker, and Internet Explorer. You also have a scanner, but you do not have a webcam or video camera and there is no computer lab in the school.
~ Propose a trip to the local library as a class. The students can do research via computer and by books availale. (this could also be done on the students own time) This allows students to learn how to use a library and realize the other sources available.
~ The five groups are color coded and will have an alloted time per day for 4 days 45 minutes each day to work on the computer. This would be for research purposes and to use movie maker in order to create the broadcast. ( this would teach students how to budget there time wisely)
~ Give the students the option to come in as a group before, after school, or during recess. This would be on a first come basis. Having this option expands the students schedule s so that they aren't cramming for time or not being able to come together as a group outside of class.
~ The scanner could be used to scan in pictures that they found in books, magazines or newspapers if needed.
~ The scripts can be hand written that way computer usage is utilized for key parts of this project and students don't have to worry about time restraints for doing the research and typing the script. Instead they can use their full amount of time for research rather than worrying about being able to type it all up and do the research.
